Below is the National Board of Directors for FY17.

President: Prentice Butler

Your UCABA Board President is Prentice Butler. He grew up in Chicago, IL, and currently resides here, where he is the Director of Policy and Constituent Services at 4th Ward, City of Chicago. Prentice received his BA in Political Science from the University of Chicago in 2002, and his MA at Loyola University Chicago in 2007.

Prentice Butler has served UCABA for 4 years as the Board President.

 

Vice President: Michael Harvey

Michael Harvey received his BA in Philosophy, Classics from the University of Chicago in 2013, and will complete his MPP at Chicago Harris in 2017. He has already served the UCABA board for 2 years as the Vice President. Michael is from Philadelphia, PA, and currently lives in Chicago, IL.

 

Secretary: Jonathan Wallace

Jonathan Wallace grew up in Memphis, TN, and currently resides in Chicago, IL, where he is the Lead Instructor at Smart Chicago Collaborative. Jonathan received his BA in African & African-American Studies from the University of Memphis in 2008, and his MA Divinity at University of Chicago: School of Divinity in 2011.

 

Programs Chair: Naima Booker

Naima Booker received her BA in Political Science from the University of Chicago in 2008, and her MBA at Chicago Booth in 2015. She previously served the UCABA Board for 1 year as the Director of UCABA Alumni Weekend Events. When she isn’t serving the board, Naima works for Allstate Insurance Co. as the Enterprise Data & Analytics Strategy Portfolio Manager.

Naima hails from Atlanta, GA, and currently lives in Chicago, IL.

 

Fundraising Chair: Juana Harper

Juana Harper grew up in Chicago, IL, and currently resides in Tampa, FL, where she is retired.  Juana received her BA in Art History from the University of Chicago in 1974, MSEd at Chicago State in 1985, and JD at John Marshall Law in 1991.

Juana Harper is in her 3rd year of service to the UCABA Board as the Fundraising Chair.

 

Recruitment Chair: Michael Ladipo

Michael Ladipo received his BA in Economics from the University of Chicago in 2008, and his MSF at DePaul Kellstadt in 2014. He previously served the UCABA board for 1 year as the Undergraduate Coordinator. When He isn’t serving the board, Michael works for Prairie Capital Advisors as a Financial Analyst.

Michael is from Houston, TX, and currently lives in Chicago, IL.

 

Communications Chair: Jazmine Johnson

Jazmine Johnson grew up in Perris, CA (Inland Empire), and currently resides there. Jazmine works in political campaigning as a Canvass Coordinator and Field Director. She received her BA in Biological Sciences from the University of Chicago in 2014.

 

Chicago Metro Chair: Ryan Hatten

Ryan Hatten received his BA in Law, Letters, & Society from the University of Chicago in 2011 and his JD at Harvard Law School in 2014. When he isn’t serving the board, Ryan practices affordable housing and community development law at Applegate & Thorne-Thomsen.

Ryan hails from St. Louis, MO, and currently lives in Chicago, IL.

 

DC Metro Chair: Marilyn Williams

Marilyn Williams received her BA in Classics from the University of Chicago in 2013. When She isn’t serving the board, Marilyn works for Clear Law Institute as the Speaker and Event Coordinator.

Marilyn hails from Fairhope, AL, and currently lives in Washington DC Metro area.

 

LA Metro Chair: Charla Strong

Charla Strong, your UCABA Board LA Metro Chair, received her BA in Law, Letters, & Society from the University of Chicago in 2003, and her JD at Northwestern University School of Law in 2008. She previously served the UCABA board for 2 years as the Programming Chair. When she isn’t serving the board, Charla works for California Academy of Mediation Professionals as the Mediation Panel Manager.

Charla is from Los Angeles, CA, where she also resides.

 

NYC Metro Chair: Mike Gilliam

Mike Gilliam grew up in Detroit Michigan, and currently resides in New York City, NY, where he is an Investment Banking Analyst at Credit Suisse. Mike received his BA in Public Policy in 2014.

 

Board Member At-Large: Hana Erkou

Hana Erkou is a UCABA Board Member at Large. She grew up in Nashville, TN, and currently resides in Boston, MA where she is the Refugee Health Care Coordination Specialist at Community of Hope. Hana received her BA in International Studies from the University of Chicago in 2013, and will achieve her MS Global Health Policy and Management at Brandeis University in 2017.

 

Board Member At-Large: Chase Weldon 

Chase Weldon received his BA in Sociology from the University of Chicago in 2012. When he isn't serving on the Board he works as a Recruiter for the management consulting firm McKinsey & Company. Chase hails from San Antonio, TX, and currently resides in the Greater Boston Area.
